Prior to training as a psychotherapist, I spent 25 years working in advertising. Drawn to mental health through volunteering as a Samaritan and wanting a better balance and autonomy in my work and life, I sought a career in psychotherapy.
I was brought up in the Nigeria until I was 7 when my family moved to the UK. My upbringing encompassed a mix of a cultures growing up in two countries within a polygamous family with parents who had different tribal backgrounds and different religious affiliations.
I underpin my exploration of all the dynamics in the therapeutic relationship by using both an intersectional and a transcultural lens to engage and not miss key aspects of the experiencing between myself, my client, our cultural environments and our generational legacies.
I work as a faculty psychotherapist at the School of Life and in my own private practice, Lqa therapy. I have a keen interest in issues related to complex cultural family dynamics, work/life balance, race, gender and sexuality.
I am a Visiting Tutor at the TA East London Institute and an Associate Lecturer on the Humanistic and Integrative courses at Metanoia.
