QAA Higher Education Review (AP)
The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) conducted a Higher Education Review of the Institute in November 2017. The Institute received confirmation of the outcome of the Review on the 28th of February 2018 as follows:
1. Maintenance of academic standards – the award offered on behalf of degree awarding bodies: the Institute meets UK expectations.
2. Quality of student learning opportunities: the Institute meets UK expectations.
3. Providers’ information about learning opportunity: the Institute meets UK expectations.
4. Enhancement of a student learning opportunity: the Institute meets UK expectations.
These outcomes were followed up by a number of recommendations that highlighted the positive way in which the Institute addresses placements, the function of research across the Institute, student enhancement, and the value attached to both professional and academic training.
The QAA made recommendations regarding post-graduate teaching qualifications for teaching staff, the establishment of a peer review process for teaching staff by May 2018, and committee monitoring to be in place by September 2018.
