Metanoia Institute support for students during the current cost of living situation.

To help students during this difficult period, Metanoia has committed to a number of measures to support students in reducing daily costs.

Starting from November 2022 Metanoia Institute will be trialing offering a free food option during teaching days.

We are currently investigating different hot food options, such as soup and instant rice pots, alongside the usual hot drinks and biscuits available in the kitchen.  We will be consulting students and the Students’ Officer during this trial period. The food available will be clearly signed in the kitchen as “Free for Students”.

Metanoia Institute has also pledged to support ending period poverty. Starting shortly we shall be providing free sanitary products, which will be located in the toilets.

If any student is seeking a warm place to study, we will endeavour to keep kitchens in both building open till 9pm during the week (5pm Friday). Please note, the kitchen may be busy during peak periods, but we are also committed to allocating a room for study, subject to availability. Please contact facilities to request a room for study and to check availability.

Other support to help with study costs include:

  • Free evening CPD events for students, via Zoom
  • Hot drinks and biscuits always available in the kitchen
  • Free Office 365
  • Free USB stick

Doctoral students, who are also registered Middlesex students (Faculty 2-Research), are able to take advantage of some measures from Middlesex University such as hot meals from their Quad on certain days.

We recognise that financial challenges can be a significant worry.  If budgeting is affecting your mental health and wellbeing, please do seek support from your personal therapist and speak in confidence to your Director of Studies.

You can also find further resources about student discount schemes (Totum/railcard) and details on how to contact our finance department on our Student Hub/Moodle. We will be communicating later in the year about the tuition fee bursary scheme, eligibility and applications.
