Applications for the MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy programme are now closed.

This is a part-time postgraduate training in Humanistic Psychotherapy which will equip you with in-depth knowledge and skills to practice as a Humanistic psychotherapist.

The programme takes place over five years part time and teaching is spread over 20 Mondays throughout the academic year for the first four years, and 8 Mondays in the final dissertation and viva year.

A Humanistic Approach

Our Humanistic approach at Metanoia is founded on the principle that humans have free will and a capacity for self-determination. It embodies a respect for the uniqueness of each individual and their intersectional, social and cultural experience. This includes holding both an awareness of dimensions of power and an intention to work in a non-hierarchical and relational way that honours the autonomy and organismic growth of the client.

Students are taught a foundation of three core modalities - Gestalt, Person-Centred and Transactional Analysis – as well as relational theories. They are encouraged and supported to integrate these in a way that suits their personal style and values. Whilst there are theoretical tensions and differences between the modalities they are underpinned and anchored by Humanistic philosophy.
