Course Overview
The MSc in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy provides comprehensive training in Transactional Analysis (TA), a psychological framework for understanding human behaviour, communication and development. This programme prepares students for a career as a psychotherapist, equipping them with the skills to understand and work with complex psychological structures and to analyse how communication impacts relationships.
Metanoia Institute’s TA training includes exploration of different TA schools, including classical concepts, Cathexis, Redecision schools, and Relational theory. The course emphasises a relational approach, encouraging self-reflection and the recognition of co-created relational dynamics within therapy. Training on working with couples and groups is included.
The training is conducted part-time over five years and includes a combination of theoretical input, skills training, personal development, and practical client work, with clinical placements beginning in the second year. Metanoia Institute is the only UK Institution endorsed by EATA to conduct final viva exams on-site, offering a distinct advantage to students.
