Course Overview

The MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy offers a comprehensive exploration of psychotherapy as an intentional use of the therapeutic relationship. The course is grounded in psychodynamic theory and clinical practice, drawing on psychodynamic, humanistic, cognitive-behavioural, and systemic therapies alongside transtheoretical concepts of change.

Emphasising the therapeutic alliance as a co-constructed endeavour, the programme highlights the importance of self-reflective practice, self-understanding, and attunement. It explores both verbal and non-verbal dimensions of communication, viewing psychotherapy as a 'communicating cure' at multiple levels. Students are encouraged to develop their integrative models by combining various theoretical approaches and considering broader contextual impacts on individual identity.

Upon successful completion, students will be awarded:

  • MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy
  • Metanoia Clinical Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy leading to UKCP Registration

Testimonials

"My years at Metanoia have been life-changing. Apart from the academic rigour, the learning I’ve achieved, and the excellent and supportive teaching, I feel I’ve changed personally. I have become more self-aware and conscious of others’ needs and feelings; more confident and self-assured in my relationships with others. It hasn’t been an easy process: the travel, the cost, the juggling day jobs and placements, the time needed to read and write essays and presentations – all this has stretched me to the limit. But it was worth it. I am now able to count several classmates/colleagues as friends. And the tutors have been inspirational. I would recommend Metanoia to anyone who really wants an emotionally transformative, as well as educational experience. It has certainly prepared me for the work I want to do."
