Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD) Supervision Conversion

Course Overview

This programme offers professional development for PCE-CfD licensed practitioners who wish to develop their knowledge and skills in PCE-CfD supervision and work towards becoming a PCE-CfD supervisor.

The programme provides opportunities for participants to develop their PCE ways of thinking, being and practising in relation to the supervisory relationship. Emphasis is placed on developing supervision competencies and an individual style of PCE-CfD supervision.

Who is the course for?

  • PCE-CfD licensed practitioners who are interested in developing their supervisory practice.
  • PCE-CfD practitioners who may already have a supervisory role within an NHS Talking Therapies context.
  • Practitioners looking to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence in providing PCE-CfD supervision.

Course Content

The programme explores key areas of PCE-CfD supervision, supporting participants to develop their understanding and application of supervision within the PCE-CfD modality.

Topics include:

  • Definitions, theory and models of PCE-CfD supervision.
  • PCE-CfD supervision practice, including competencies, skills and reflective/reflexive practice.
  • Standards in supervision and ethical practice.
  • Power, context and culture.
  • Working in context.
  • Developing an individual PCE-CfD supervision practice style.

Teaching Methods

The philosophy of the training programme is Person-Centred Experiential. Learning is supported through didactic, experiential and skills-based methods, with a strong foundation in the clinical practice of working with counsellors using the PCE-CfD modality.

The programme supports participants to develop as reflexive practitioners and to deepen their knowledge of PCE approaches to supervision, philosophically, theoretically and in practice. Participants have opportunities to integrate and apply their knowledge and skills through supervision practice, self and peer assessment and work-based learning.

Supervision Practice

The programme includes opportunities to develop practical experience of PCE-CfD supervision. Participants are responsible for identifying appropriate supervisees and establishing meta-supervision arrangements to support their supervision practice.
