- A Foundation Certificate in Clinical Assessment is available for those wishing to attend both workshops and complete a 2000 word essay.
- Students must have at least 80 supervised clinical hours to attend these workshops
- Students can attend just one of the workshops, but must be able to attend both days of the workshop

Workshop 1: Assessments in private practice
Wednesday 31st May & Friday 2nd June, 10 am – 4.30 pm
- Fee for this workshop: £70 plus booking fee for Metanoia students
This workshop will introduce a format and rationale for structuring clinical assessments for private practice. We will cover different forms of assessment, topics that need to be explored during an assessment, the use of questionnaires, and consider outcomes of an assessment. We will also explore complex aspects of assessment, including the assessment of risk and what support structures you might need when taking on a client in private practice.

Workshop 2 – Mental health issues in assessment
Wednesday 14th & Friday 16th June, 10 am – 4.30 pm
- This workshop is free to Metanoia students
- This workshop counts towards 10 hours of your MHFP
This workshop will explore how mental health issues may present at assessment. We will introduce the structure and approach to formal clinical diagnosis using DSM-5 & ICD-10. The advantages and disadvantages of diagnosis will be discussed as well as using the therapeutic relationship and transference in diagnosis. We will go on to consider different types of diagnosis, including psychosis and the mental health act. We will also look at different forms of medication and what they might indicate when conducting an assessment.
