World Menopause Day

World Menopause Day 18th October 2022

Today we delivered a seminar “Working with menopause in psychotherapy” delivered by Melissa Cliffe a lecturer on our Dip/MSc Humanistic Psychotherapist course and an experienced Gestalt psychotherapist.

"Today I was really pleased that over 78 students and qualified therapists were able to attend our CPD seminar Working with Menopause in Psychotherapy. Metanoia is keen to expand our provision of events covering a range of issues faced by therapists in their clinical practice"

Dr Jane Hunt Head of Faculty

Until recently menopause transition was rarely spoken of.

For many it has been a lonely and a confusing experience, with little information or support available. Thanks to menopause campaigners and pioneers this is changing, and conversations about menopause are taking place across multiple communities.

Menopause can affect women, non-binary and trans people, as well as partners, family members and colleagues. As psychotherapists we can offer a space to process the various challenges it might bring.

This seminar offered an overview of the menopause experience, as both a biological and existential passage, and encouraged thinking about how you can work with menopause in your own practice.
