Learn about our unique offering, meet the team and experience a taster of our creative and innovative approaches to learning which on this programme lead to eligibility for BPS/HCPC & UKCP registration.
It is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) as a training towards Chartered Psychologist status and approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a training towards potential Registered Counselling Psychologist/Practitioner Psychologist status.
Unlike many similar trainings, it is also accredited by the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) as a training towards registration as an Integrative Psychotherapist and eligibility to receive the European Certificate of Psychotherapy.
People who come to visit, work or study at Metanoia often comment on the friendly informality and inclusivity – a welcome legacy of the Institute’s founders who from 1984 offered a humanistic alternative to the psychoanalytic trainings which dominated at that time. Training takes place in cosy carpeted rooms with the usual teaching and learning facilities but sit on comfortable sofas.
Four-year intensive training emphasising an integrative and relational approach to counselling psychology and psychotherapy
Training comprises a combination of on-site teaching and learning, delivered across 10 “long weekends” per year (Fri-Sun) between October and July, plus clinical and mental health familiarisation placements where candidates practice under supervision to continue their training and development. There is an emphasis on combining professional with personal development and candidates undertake personal therapy across all four years of clinical training.
All programme tutors are in clinical practice and active in ongoing research projects. Candidates are each assigned a personal tutor to support them through study. “The team are passionate about helping you achieve”
