Biography Fiona Hamilton specialises in therapeutic writing with people in the NHS and complementary healthcare, and reflective practice and creative writing with diverse community groups. She is Arts Lead for the Portland Centre for Integrative Medicine, where she works with people using creative techniques to enhance wellbeing through use of imagination, metaphor and reflective writing. At the University of Bristol, she teaches medical students in their second year, a course entitled Poetry of Medicine which complements the clinical curriculum and fulfils aims of the whole person care strand. Fiona is director of Orchard Foundation, Tutor for the Poetry School, and a mentor for writers and researchers. Her book Bite Sized led to a theatre performance with dance and a programme of educational workshops for young people in schools, clinicians, carers and parents on themes of body-mind issues and mental health. Her publications include poetry collections, pieces for radio and public art. |
