Dr Alistair McBeath

Dr Alistair McBeath is a BPS Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow; he is a UKCP registered Psychotherapist and also registered with the General Psychotherapy Council (GPsyC)). Trained at Regents College and Guys Hospital he is a senior practitioner member of the BPS Register of Psychologists Specialising in Psychotherapy. Alistair considers himself to be a researcher-practitioner and is keen to promote this identity within the psychotherapy profession.
Alistair has published widely and is co-editor, with Dr Sofie Bager-Charleson, of the popular books Enjoying Research in Counselling and Psychotherapy and Supporting Research in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Alistair works for an Edinburgh based therapeutic consultancy. His primary research interests are in mixed methods research, the process of research supervision, the motivations of psychotherapists and the creative use of online surveys. Alistair has presented at several research conferences (Metanoia, UKCP) and has wide experience of teaching how to do research within the psychotherapy. profession and make it an enjoyable experience.
