Examples of CPD Activity for the UKCP Annual Returns

Please see list below of what the Metanoia Institute consider to be appropriate CPD for annual returns:

What we consider to be relevant CPD:

  • short courses
  • attendance at workshops
  • longer terms courses (i.e. we would include research degrees here)
  • attendance at conferences
  • facilitating a conference workshop or giving a conference paper
  • reading with evidence of what has been read with dates
  • Preparation for teaching new material on counselling and psychotherapy courses
  • peer study groups
  • working on an article related to psychotherapy
  • researching in the area counselling/psychotherapy
  • Practitioners who have qualified within the last five years who have met the consultative supervision requirements can use additional peer supervision hours as CPD.
  • Practitioners who have qualified for more than five years can use peer supervision; the primary focus of this must be client work and development as a psychotherapist.

What is not considered relevant CPD:

  • personal therapy
  • clinical supervision
  • General wellbeing
