Job Title: Sessional Lecturer/Tutor
Reports To: Head of Programme
Programmes: MSc in Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes (CWTP)
Salary: Day rate of £390 to £418
Contract: Sessional (Term Time: September 2025 – July 2026)
Closing Date: Monday 28th April, 1pm 

Role Purpose:
We are seeking a tutor to join our core team on the MSc CWTP validated by Middlesex University. The job involves facilitating high-quality learning within the Institute through teaching, administration, and student support.
Joining a supportive team, you will help develop practitioners in CWTP via experiential learning, creative writing processes, practice skills development, and research projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Learning, Teaching, and Assessment

• Between 10 and 15 teaching days per year (agreed in advance). Teaching online and in-person at weekends, including 6 days in person at Metanoia Institute London.

• Prepare and develop teaching content and materials.

• Deliver module content.

• Set, mark, and assess assignments.

• Innovate teaching and assessment methods while ensuring quality delivery.

• Demonstrate a high level of commitment to and responsibility for allocated teaching days.

Academic Advice

• Guide students in tutorials to support their progress.

• Understand course philosophy, assessment requirements, and university regulations.

Management and Administration

• Attend tutor meetings.

• Liaise with the academic coordinator and the tutor team.

• Assist with course administration, including induction and record-keeping.

• Manage personal administrative tasks.

General

• Represent Metanoia at professional bodies, events, and conferences.

• Follow Metanoia’s policies, including Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety, and Codes of Ethics.

Essential and Desirable Criteria:

Essential

• Professional qualification at Masters level or equivalent qualifications and experience in Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes.

• Active creative writing practice.

• Experience as a facilitator of creative writing for therapeutic purposes.

• Experience teaching or training in higher education or related fields.

• Strong knowledge of relevant topics in CWTP and ability to devise teaching content.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and independent-working skills.

• Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment.

Desirable

• Teaching qualification or substantial experience as a facilitator devising and delivering sessions to groups.

• Willingness to develop an understanding of higher education systems and regulations.

• Knowledge of contemporary issues in CWTP.

Additional Skills

• Creativity, vision, and adaptability.

• Proficiency in digital tools for teaching.
