Metanoia Institute is seeking an accomplished and reflective academic to take on the role of Head of Programme for one of our Reflective Practice top up BSc and Certificate in Counselling skills. This position offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the academic life of a values-led institution known for its rigour, relational approach, and long-standing reputation in psychotherapy education.
The successful candidate will provide academic leadership in curriculum development, learning and teaching strategy, and student outcomes - while maintaining the high standards of quality assurance and professional integrity our programmes are known for. You will line-manage a dedicated team of staff, oversee key aspects of programme delivery, and contribute to the strategic development of the Institute’s educational portfolio.
We are particularly interested in hearing from those with a strong background in psychotherapy education, experience of leading academic programmes, and a thoughtful, student-centred approach to academic and professional development.
Essential criteria:
- A Bachelor of Science, or equivalent clinical qualification
- BACP Accredited Counsellor or a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist.
- Proven leadership in higher education teaching and curriculum development
- Deep understanding of professional, regulatory, and pedagogical frameworks
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
Desirable qualifications include a PhD and a recognised clinical supervisor qualification.
