Head of Programme for PCE-CfD Practitioner and Supervisor trainings

Reports to Title: Director of Clinical Training (DoCT)

 

Business function/ Sub-function: Academic

              

Location: Metanoia Institute, 13 North Common Road, W5 2QB (Hybrid)

 

Role Purpose: 

The Head of Programme has overall responsibility for a team of sessional tutors. They will provide academic leadership and innovation in learning, teaching and programme development. The Head of Programme is crucial in supporting the management and strategic planning processes of these programmes. They will have overall responsibility for a team of sessional tutors and provide leadership and guidance ensuring programme excellence.  

 

Role and Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategic Planning

  • Provide leadership and innovation in learning, teaching, and programme development.
  • Support the management and strategic planning processes of the Institute.
  • Maintain oversight of student recruitment, progression, and outcomes.
  • Drive positive student outcomes and key performance indicators for TEF and Institutional evaluation surveys.
  • Line-manage a programme team to ensure quality provision and student success.

Programme Development and Quality Assurance

  • Oversee programme recruitment, admissions criteria, and marketing efforts (with DoCT support).
  • Lead learning, teaching, and assessment strategies for programme development.
  • Ensure quality assurance standards and programme enhancement.
  • Regularly review and update programme content and teaching materials to align with national curricula and regulatory requirements.

Student Support and Administration

  • Provide student advice and guidance.
  • Recruit and liaise with external examiners.
  • Organise timetabling, room/online bookings, and programme handbooks.
  • Oversee moderation processes, informal complaints, and fitness-to-practice procedures.
  • Undertake academic advising and provide first-line support for students, including safeguarding responsibilities.

Teaching, Assessment, and Innovation

  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of high-quality programmes.
  • Ensure course design and delivery comply with institutional and regulatory expectations.
  • Set, mark, and assess coursework and exams, providing detailed feedback.
  • Promote innovative teaching methods and the integration of technology in learning.
  • Support students and staff with study skills and pedagogical best practices.

General Duties

  • Undertake necessary administrative tasks to support compliance and academic services.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve institutional goals.
  • Carry out any other duties as reasonably requested by the line manager.

 

Essential skills and Experience:

  • A Post-Graduate degree or equivalent clinical qualification in this NHS Talking Therapies modality (PCE-CfD Practitioner licensed)
  • Individual accreditation with BACP or equivalent professional status and registration.
  • Qualification as a PCE-CfD Supervisor
  • Significant experience of working therapeutically within NHS Mental Health Services
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to engage with students and staff using a variety of different methods
  • Excellent presentation skills, with the proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, colleagues and external audiences.
  • Significant experience of high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
  • Successful experience of leading and developing staff
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of innovation and creative problem-solving.
  • Advanced level IT skills.
  • A willingness to participate in support activities beyond normal management and teaching duties
  • Experience of disseminating and implementing relevant policies and practices.
  • Flexibility and availability
  • Commitment to developing diversity and equality
  • Autonomous and self-sustaining, whilst also valuing team effort and enterprise
  • Good relationships with all staff and students within the Institute, on an equal basis
