Associate Lecturer
ROLE PURPOSE: To support the teaching and smooth running of the DCPSYCH
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend research and clinical lecturers and support the module leaders in the smooth running of the classes. For example, assisting students in their breakout groups during seminars.
- Be available for all placement, supervision and personal therapy queries and update the handbook on these issues as needed.
- Support the teaching staff in the developing of their modules and the ongoing development of the student and research handbooks.
- Support the team in the use of Moodle, SharePoint and Turnitin.
- Participate in the induction of new staff, where appropriate.
- Assist the teaching team in revising syllabi and producing various documents, such as leaflets, brochures and handbooks for validation and accreditation exercises as well as for annual updates.
- Work with teachers and research supervisors to enhance the student experience, and to provide peer review.
- Attend staff meetings and the academic team meeting.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- The successful candidate must be able to work well in a small and cohesive team, in which many tasks are shared between academic and administrative staff.
- They must be able to be diplomatic and supportive when dealing with students and staff.
- They must be able to demonstrate experience of successful team working.
- They must have the aptitude to learn to use our bespoke student management system.
- Be able to work Friday - Sunday, 9.30am - 5.30pm on 10 teaching weekends throughout the year. Lecturers would be entitled to take one day off during the following week, for each day of the teaching weekend that they worked.
