As the psychotherapy and counselling fields move towards Government led voluntary registration, it is likely that there will be an increased demand for you to demonstrate that you have undertaken appropriate, relevant and high quality CPD activity.
In order to assist with this process Metanoia will establish a credit system whereby some of our longer CPD programmes will be allocated a credit rating that is in line with the credit rating framework used in the University sytem.
The purpose of this type of framework is to bring consistency and clarification to the various courses that HE establishments provide so that learning can be quantified and recognised by all HE institutions, regardless of when and where it was gained. Basically this means that should you wish to approach another HE establishment to undertake one of their courses, you can use the learning credits gained from our courses, and make a case for equivalence.
Credit is essentially a tool for measuring and expressing learning equivalence and is awarded for achieving learning outcomes. A learning outcome is a statement of learning achievement expressed in terms of what the student will know, understand or be able to do, on successful completion of the course.
One unit of credit represents 10 notional hours of successful learning. Notional in this case relates to all the time that the learner spends in pursuit of the designated learning outcomes and includes course attendance, essay writing, reading etc. So, for example, a course that is estimated to involve 100 hours of learning will be allocated 10 learning credits.
Each unit of credit also includes a credit value that indicates the complexity of the learning involved. This ranges from level 8 which is typical of learning expected at a doctoral level, through to level 7, Masters levels, levels 5 and 4, Bachelor's (undergraduate) level, to level 3 which represents learning typical of that expected at entry into a higher education qualification. On completion of your course, if you have met the learning outcomes, you will receive a certification of completion which will clearly evidence the learning credits that you have achieved.
