| Description of Practice | I think there is a perception that people who 'have psychotherapy' are 'sick' and need 'fixing'. Based on my training and experience, I have a different view: that there are many and varied valid ways people learn to survive and sometimes a survival strategy that helps us at one time in our lives becomes out-dated and needs updating.
For me, psychotherapy involves looking at a client's unconscious survival strategies, making them aware of the unconscious thoughts and feelings they use to interpret their experiences of people and the world and looking at ways their survival strategies can be updated to bring less fear, less anxiety, less distress, more contentment and fulfillment into their life.
