The Regulation of Psychologists

You will no doubt be aware that the BPS has been very active in the debates about statutory regulation of the professions within psychology and that a response to the Health Professions Council has been prepared by the BPS based on consultation with all of the relevant groups. All the latest documents on these debates can be downloaded via the BPS website. In relation to the level of qualification for registration with the HPC it would at present seem that there are likely to be a number of different options from Associate Psychologist to Doctoral level with Chartered Status. No definite decisions have yet been made so we do need to await some further deliberations on the part of the HPC and the BPS. We are keeping ourselves fully informed and shall discuss the matter further with you as events unfold. In the meantime we suggest that you keep abreast of events via the BPS website for members.
