Working with Vulnerable People
Following the general election in 2010, the Coalition Government has put plans for the The Independent Safeguarding Authority and the Vetting and Barring Scheme on hold.
As counsellors, psychotherapists and counselling psychologists work with vulnerable people, students will be required to undergo an enhanced criminal record disclosure before starting their clinical practice. Having a criminal record will not necessarily disqualify you from training, but all criminal records must be disclosed during the application process in accordance with our Criminal Records Policy to safeguard clients.
When the Coalition decides how it is going to proceed with a revised scheme, all students will be expected to comply with the requirements.
